Electrical Distribution
News: Electrical DistributionCorrecting power factor
To achieve these goals, the efficiency of an electrical network must be improved in order to optimise power consumption and reduce electricity bills. One of the benefits of implementing power factor correction is it reduces apparent power (kVA) required by the load, which helps unload the main distribution transformer and reduces line losses and voltage drop. Our new Varset power factor correction bank aims to help in this process. The Varset is an automatically-controlled power factor correction bank, which makes use of the superior Varplus2 capacitors, special contactors for capacitor switching, detuned reactors to protect the capacitors from the effects of harmonics, a protective device (circuit breaker or switch) and a Varlogic power factor controller. Varset was designed, engineered, built and tested in Australia. The complete solution covers a wide range of power rating from 27 to 250 KVAR and is available in wall-mounted and floorstanding versions.
