I. CUSTOMER ENVIRONMENT / PROJECT CONTEXT

 

Customer profile:

Sumperk operational water company was found in 1994 by privatisation of Vodovody a kanalizace Supmerk company, who was longtime administrator of water pipes and drainage of cities in Sumperk region. Sumperk operational water comapny control and operate aquiculturing property of cities in Sumperk region.
 

Customer objective and constraints:

  • Reconstruction of the Zábřeh municipal wastewater treatment plant was carried out in order to increase the plant capacity, refurbish and complete the existing outdated technologies.
 

II. SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION

 

Implementation methodology (main phases):

  •  Mechanical sludge thickening, mechanical dewatering and intermediate sludge accumulation were newly delivered.
    Furthermore, new activated sludge tanks and digestion tanks were built, and inlet pumping station, mechanical pretreatment and gas tank including its machine room were modernized.
    A cogeneration unit with electrical output of 100 kW was installed for more efficient use of the generated biogas. These measures resulted in improved outlet parameters of the digested sludge, reduction of odour load in the WTP neighbourhood, and increased capacity of the new dewatering plant compared to the original dewatering technology of the belt press.
    At the same time, it should bring savings of operating cost of energy and, thanks to process automation, also reduction of the scope and laboriousness of the WTP attendance.

  • The whole concept is divided into 7 basic functional units controlled by Modicon Premium or Micro TSX systems. All the control systems are equipped with a local operator's graphic panel Magelis XBT for local parameter setting.
  • Individual control systems of the functional units are interconnected with each other and connected to operator dispatching via Ethernet TCP/IP (100 Mbit/s) or Fipway (1 Mbit/s).
  • Besides the control of the process itself, the WTP control system ensures also the control and regulation of the boiler house, hot service water distribution system, air handling equipment and outdoor lighting of the whole WTP. Auxiliary control systems of autonomous process equipment (cogeneration unit, transport of dewatered sludge, decanting centrifuges for digested sludge dewatering, emergency pumping station) are connected to communication lines RS485/Modbus.
  • Communication lines RS485/Modbus are also used for the control of frequency converters, acquisition of power data from the measuring devices in switchboards, and control of quadral maximum. 4 pumping stations placed in the vicinity of the WTP and controlled by Twido control system are connected to the WTP control system. Data are transferred from these stations by means of the communication lines RS485/Modbus (for newly built pumping stations). Visualization is provided in the WTP control room and in the office of the WTP manager via OPC server and by means of the visualization software Control Web 2000.
  • Local visualization is ensured by 6 graphic operator panels Magelis XBT, which are installed in the doors of the process distribution boxes. Modern terminal boards Telefast are used. Altivar frequency converters and Altistart soft starters ensure smooth control and gradual start of motors for pumps, blowers and drives of baskets of centrifuges in the sludge system. On the whole there are 15 drives with the output from 0.75 kW to 75 kW in the wastewater treatment plant.  Bridge motion along circular paths and collection of the floating sludge in the secondary settling tanks is controlled by the intelligent relay Zelio Logic.
 

III. RESULTS / ACHIEVEMENT

 

Customer benefits:

1. Reduction of scope and laboriousness of the WTP attendance.

2. Data transfer to ŠPVS a. s. dispatching (e.g. reporting deviations from normal state).

3. Securing the WTP premises by direct connection to the Central Security Panel.

4. Installed technology enables remote supervision by ELZACO spol. s r. o.

and diagnostics of individual control systems via:

- fast reaction to requested change in the control system program,

- possible intervention in the plant and control system diagnostics bring a benefit to

ŠPVS a. s. in form of saving of maintenance costs.

Besides control system components, also other Schneider Electric products have been used, such as signalling and control elements Harmony, protective devices

Compact and Multi 9 or switchboards and distribution boards Sarel.
